if you keep track of news in singapore, then you'll probably know that
j.b. jeyaratnam passed away a couple of days ago. and you'll also know about the
failure of an condolence letter that our great prime minister wrote to jbj's sons.
anyway, there's
an increasingly negative response to the way
the state is handling the passing of the man considered to be the biggest thorn in the PAP's side.
it kind of makes you wonder if the letters were all dictated by the same person and then officially signed off and published. it wouldn't really surprise me. the only good thing that comes of this - that i can see at the moment anyhow - is that people are becoming more and more vocal about their unhappiness with singapore's political situation. apathy's a shiteous thing and singaporeans have been apathetic for far too long.
now i'm actually quite interested to see what'll happen when the other old man dies. he must be contemplating his own mortality now that one of his many nemeses, the one who fought the hardest, has been taken by a force greater than himself.
the show's just beginning! majulah singapura.
