baby, what's in that satchel?

today i bought a rice cooker. of course you can cook rice in a pot on the stove the old fashioned way, but yesterday i tried and the minute i put the water in the pot, i forgot all of the mothership's instructions and the rice was a little more porridgey than it should have been. although zoot reckons it was more ricey than porridgey so it wasn't too bad for a first attempt.

so anyway now we have a rice cooker. the lady at kmart was telling me how to get the rice just perfect, which to passers-by must have seemed strange because it was a white lady telling the asian girl how to cook rice.

tonight on the menu, chicken with soy and balsamic vinegar dressing. from my new cookbook. we shall assess the results later on in the evening! wish me luck.
