david lachapelle [link] does some pretty funky photography. the portraits he does are mad and sometimes pop/rap/other-types-of-music stars get him to shoot their album covers[link] for them. thing i don't get is, if you got a superfamous surrealist photographer to make an album cover for you, why'd you do something as boring as this[link] ? or this[link] ? geez mya, grow an imagination.
personal favourites are the barfly IV and whitney houston covers. she looks so slim and fresh and happy and diva-y, as you would do if you had enough platinum records to cover every surface of your bedroom. and it sure as hell beats looking like this:
which is not what a woman who's sold more than 100 million albums, won 21 american music awards, and six grammys should look like (wikipedia i love you). oh whitneeeeey how i long for the days when maids everywhere were using your songs on "voice-tapes" to send back to their loved ones.
the tom jones one is pretty nice too. who's a sex bawmb?!
