i've been watching this anime series called natsume yuujinchou and one of the characters is this cat called madara who loves eating manju. so anyway, he guzzles manju like naruto slurps ramen and it always makes me want to eat some! the only thing is i have no idea where to get manju, or what it actually is. it just looks delicious in cartoon form. so, i googled for manju recipes and lo and behold, what it really is, is a japanese tau sar pau (-___-|||).

anyway, to distinguish these from an ordinary tau sar pau i decided to tweak the recipe slightly and add green tea powder to the dough mixture since green tea and azuki beans complement each other nicely. and at first it didn't look green enough, so i added more powder and then it was way too green. now, instead of a delicate-looking culinary delights, i now have these camo-coloured buns that look ready to wage guerilla warfare.

e was very nice and supportive and said they tasted pretty all right and it was just the colour that looked kind of unappetizing. in any case, i present you with:

out in the field

auntie dingo's camouflage pau!
