you know what's addictive? looking at people online. namely here and here.
it's nice to see that there are people in sg who are making an attempt to dress better and move away from the t-shirt + levi's jeans combo, and also learning how to carry themselves a bit better. the people behind this webbie claim that "It is not about good or bad fashion. It is about interesting outfits, the person behind the outfit and the diversity of street styles in Singapore"and i personally reckon some of the stuff there isn't that spesh but then i guess there is a disclaimer and it's a fun initiative nonetheless !!
check out if you're bored =D

* name has been changed to protect the identityof person involved
which was true up to about 10 minutes ago. but now i have some grandfatherly advice for you all:
FILE THINGS. properly. not in a bedroom drawer like i do =P because when tax returns time comes around, documents like how much you owe the government for paying your uni fees and what your bank account number is, and even *gasp* what the proper name on your bank account is - which, believe it or not, i didn't know *shame* i mean i couldn't remember whether i'd put down a middle name or initial etcetc. Also, read the questions properly because if you're an idiot like me, you could almost end up owing $18K in HECS fees, when actually you only owe $9.8K. harhar. only $9.8K. do you hear that?! it's the sound of me hyperventilating.
ANYWAY that's all done and with any luck, i will have enough money to pay my visa bill!
and also, uni is busy and my schedule is quite quite horrendous.
and also, hopefully my flickr account resets itself so i can upload the gosh darn melbourne photos. 13 weeks till my next holiday! can't wait !! also, that means it's about 13 weeks to my birthday so start saving up bitches. i'm expecting some good shizzle!

romesh did this with our studio in 1st year to put our time management into perspective. and i've never really followed it before because 1) i am lazy and 2) i am lazy. so anyway like i mentioned before, this semester is pretty ker-ay-zeeee so i have to manage my time super duper well. my calculations are thus:
there are 7 days a week, 24 hours a day
7 x 24 = 168
sleep = 7 hrs a day so 168 - 49 = 119
work = 10 hrs a week so 119 - 10 = 109
uni contact hours = 8+4+2+2+4 = 20 (egad =_=" i hope i've miscalculated this)
so 109 - 20 = 89
20 hours for studio per week outside of uni contact hours (optimistic)
89 - 20 = 69
20 hours for atr per week (even more optimistic but let's try anyway)
69 - 20 = 49
1 for church (sorry God) = 48
3 hrs per day for meals + chores = 48 - 21 = 27
travelling time to and from uni = 27 - 8 = 19
1 hr per day for ablutions = 19 - 7 = 12
THEREFORE technically speaking i have 12 hours to spare per week for recreational and miscellaneous activities. amongst these will be time for relaxing and maintaining human relationships, and also incorporates unforseen events like doing essays and other things like that. which means .. i have very little time indeed. maybe i should reduce sleeping hours? i dunno. anyhoo we'll see how things work out.

guess who's back in perth! as usual i wish my holidays were longer, but i've already had an almost-two-month holiday and it's back to uni tomorrow. oh woe and calamity. i have some pics of melbourne, but some are on a CERTAIN SOMEBODY's* camera. so if that CERTAIN SOMEBODY* who prefers to remain totally anonymous please send me photos! and then i can put them all up on flickr. thanks.
as usual i'm not a big fan of the day-1-we-arrived-at-the-hotel-and-it-was-fantasmo thing, so i will share other aspects of the trip which may not be totally relevant to you, but you're reading my blog yes? so you may be interested in knowing anyway.
* from here on, this certain somebody shall be known as sexylegs.
[clears throat]
during the week away, it was really nice to spend lots of time with bboj and sexylegs, both of whom i don't see very often at all. we were also joined by sexylegs' friend nicebutts. and we did all the usual touristy things, shopping etc. but the best part was the quality time spent together.
if you are lazy about reading details, you can read the bits in blue.
basic details
weather: shitty and cold and fluctuate-y
food: tasty!
coffee: good in general
shopping: in general quite the same as perth. but there were some good places with pretty things
purchased: many many items
new friends made: 1 (that would be nicebutts)
books read: a wild sheep chase
anyway. the thing is, after reading a wild sheep chase, i wondered what it'd be like to be a character in a murakami book. or rather, i wondered what my life would sound like if there was a murakami-esque voiceover narrating the events that took place in my day-to-day activities. afterall, things have been pretty eventful over the past few weeks.
i don't actually have an answer that i can put into words, but via a train of thought that started at the wild sheep chase station, i have decided that the things in my life could do with a bit more order and a lot less faffing about. and while blogging may be considered faffing about, i think i can afford to spare half an hour or so to add a little more random musings to this interweb. without further ado, my mid-year resolutions are thus:
1. this semester is going to be full-time and full-on and it would be nice to go through uni without failing anything. so gaming time will be sacrificed to a certain extent.
2. if i am annoyed with certain people or events, i shall not take out my stress or frustration on people not related to the issue at hand.
3. i will not have as much time to work at ice cream shop of doom so i will shop less and save more.
4. i will try to be more sociable.
5. this semester i have also semi-forgotten about the karma thing. so i will endeavour to be a good girlie.
ta daa !
the gist of it is that during the past week i've had time to clear my head and prepare for a new semester (yes, unfortunately my life is governed by semesters at the mo'). and there are going to be some changes, but i think i'm prepared for those too and everything's been put into perspective as well. so there's my bit of introspection for now which ironically has been shared with the interweb. i'm off to finish another book now! i've started on kafka on the shore (are you sensing a theme here?) and it's not as bad as i thought it would be.

melbourne tomorrow!!
tonight's party was goot indeed, parentals had lots of fun. and there was lots of old people dancing. too weird .. we'e got pics but they're just everywhere! some on my camera, some on stoo's. i'll put them up once we get them organized into a pretty little package.
you'll probably see the melbourne pics first ..
anyway mama and papa loo are so cute =) an impromptu speech was made by me but i think our parish priest wasn't too chuffed when i got up to the mic and said "hey everyone, could i make a speech and toast the parents before everyone gets too pissed please?" there were some guffaws. but mostly people gasped. i think my parents were in the guffaws category which is all that matters. he actually came up to ask "so! not too pissed yet?!" to which we replied "not at all !" some people should just live a little. prim and proper people piss me off.

since nobody else made useful suggestions besides lynda of the shire, and she told me what i wanted to hear anyway, i've gotten rid of the dead architect trivia. it wasn't that great anyway.
now, i have archives! i've tested the links and they seem to work fine, which is fantastic dah-ling. absolutely fantastic. ever the ego-maniac, i actually like some of my old posts quite a bit so i didn't want them to be forgotten. most are not as lacklustre as some of the recent stuff has been. also, with the clicking of the "PUBLISH POST" button, this will be my 250th entry since moving here from pinkism-no-jutsu, which was pretty much exactly the same just that sometimes people couldn't access from uni libraries and stuff because of the underscores. congrats congrats. i'm not a numerologist, but it seems all good things have been coming in 7s.
i.e. parents 25th anniversary : 2 + 5 = 7
250th post : 2 + 5 + 0 = 7
our house number : 7
our old house number : 1 + 0 + 6 = 7
plus we were put in unit 7 and 34 all throughout our trip =P except for the place in cervantes, which was unit 2. and haunted.
WAH! rucky numba rucky numba !
and finally, the nun no longer looks like an evil gremlin, which is great. now i must away. tankyewvellymuch to people who have been reading the roobesh here since .. march 2005.

oh and how could i forget! pirates was gooooooooooooooooooood! not as good as the first one, but fun nonetheless. my only regret is i do not have very piratey gear to go watch the movie in. anyway i'm sure you've all read the reviews and opinions blahblahblah. i'm not really one for doing things like that so i'll just say CAN'T WAIT FOR THE NEXT ONE !!
and also, here's an excerpt from our in-depth-post-movie discussion ...
mum: what i don't get is jack sparrow acts so gay but he seems to like the girl
me: not gay ma, just camp
lynne: yeah there's a difference
mum: but his wrist is so limp, and his walk! gosh
da: oh but he looks good dirty
me: and even with mascara he looks so good
mum: ya but gay. i like will turner
all 3 of us: EEW! he looks like a pansy!
me: i hope jack hooks up with the chick in the end
mum [very impassioned now]: NO ! but will FIGHTS for her!!
oh well. i guess someone has to like orlando bloom.

i am trying (very unsucessfully) to draw a nun for the donation box at my parents' shindig on friday. somehow she always comes out looking super evil. EVIL NUN! but no ..
you see, the parentals don't want presents, but would like people to donate the money (they had planned to use to buy presents) to the little sisters of the poor. so i'm just making a little placard for the box ... as girlies with too much spare time on their hands are wont to do.
also, you will notice i've added another link to the already-very-long list on the right *points o'er yonder* suckball dot com is entertainy! just as ampulets are arty, and fortycalibernap is ramble-y. introduced by theMunAAARGH who says he reads it every weekend when he books out. also, mun's link is dead because the domain is no more so i've removed that link. and yas is now bashoo because he likes the word so much.
one last blog-thing, i am currently undecided as to whether i should bring back archives. i reckon i had some nice stuff in those archives, but also that they further clutter up the already very cluttered up right-hand-side frame. or maybe remove the architect trivia? none of them have died lately except for harry seidler and that wasn't funny. any opinions? if you have a winning suggestion, i will treat you to bubbletea (in perth) or old chang kee (in sg). if you are elsewhere .. um .. i will give you *happy snaps* or make you a purdy banner for your blog? your choice lah.
on to other things, i'm finally a 4th year! i need to re-enrol now. the joy of knowing i only have 2 years of uni left is only slightly marred by the fact that uni's studentconnect site is leading me in merry circles. i'm sure once i'm really graduated i will look back on these days and lament on how i did not grab them by the little ladies' testiclé with enough gusto, but for now i'm content with being one step closer to spear-heading my own movement.
ah .. so many changes to blog and life! although changes to life are a bit slow and not as apparent as changes to blog. if i were into horoscopes, i'd write this for myself:
"dear scorpio, your week will be full of changes. also, this is a time for travel and meeting new people. do not be held back by the shackles of the past and forge bravely on. you will thank yourself for this later"
[cue mr. marie's dad singing "for everything / turns turns turns / there is a season / turns turns turns / a time to live a time to die / a time to eat a time to shit /"]
and finally, tonight we are off to watch PIRATES!! harrrr .. oh johnny. i mean. PIRATES! harrrr

lookie! i made a map thing because i have way too much free time on my hands .. leaving for melbourne on saturday, and parentals' anniversary on friday. but until then i will just be a useless layabout. ALTHOUGH, stoo's had a brainwave and we're making badges for the night of the par-tay. i won't spoil the surprise now, so i'll put up the pics of us wearing the badges on the night itself.
anyway the point of that map is to show that the stupid loser friends are already slowly taking over australia. just you wait! soon all the world we be ours !! bwa ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. also, noelle zoot girlie-tron has a blog. i linked her there! *points to the links page*
ok now i am going to potter off and do whatever it is i'm doing (which is really not much at all)

not the prettiest map in the world
the highlight of the trip was definitely kalbarri though. i think i may actually move there! it's a coastal town with a population of about 1800, but because the town centre is pretty small, population density is actually ok.
anyhoo, we did this bush safari tour thing at the murchison house station. actually the station only makes up 1600sqm of the place. the entire piece of land that the station sits on is about 1 million acres, and is owned by the one person. the remaining 998, 400sqm is unadulterated WA outback, which is where they conduct the tour.
now, the loo family is not outdoorsy at all, so the thought of a bush tour is actually a big big challenge. during this tour, we had to walk barefoot in mud and on rocks and i think we even stepped on roo poo. but no complaints! if you have a look at the photostream, there's a pic of us sitting on a big tree trunk. that bit behind the tree used to be filled with water and was therefore unaccessible by canoe or foot. however, since this winter is been non-rainy, we managed to walk some way in. and then tour-guide frank got trapped in quicksand momentarily, and sank to about his waist before managing to scurry out unscathed. and then the rest of the way was too deep to wade through so we left it at that. WOW !!
our next challenge is the 3 day-2 night camp =DD i am sooo up for it!
also on this trip, while drifting in and out of sleep in the car, i kind of got an idea of how my parents get along without us. pretty well actually! not that they are disgruntled and angsty when we're around, but they do talk about a lot of non-parental things when there's no bills or household troubles to think about. i don't quite know how to put it exactly, but it's just seeing them in a different light just gave me a warm fuzzy feeling that was not lynne's toes poking me from the seat behind.
and finally ... quotes of the week
day 1
mum: come on dad, look sharp!
dad: [very bewildered] huh?
day 2
lynne: [kinda flustered] hey, where've my pants gone?
day 3
lynne: c'mon guys, hold my hands! i'm a maypole!
me: um .. phallic symbol?
da: HAHA! lynne's a large penis.
day 4 - during a game of cranium
lynne: [frantically circling a picture of male bits she drew (very badly)] the hint is "expression" dad !!
dad: um .. c*ck? um .. balls? huh?
lynne: NO! argh ...
mum: time's up
lynne: it's a WILLY, dad. the phrase was WILLY WILLY
day 5
da: [pointing to a fenced-off empty field] what's that?
me: rock farm
da: yeah right.
me: really! see that sign? it said "rock farm" (it really said "over-taking lane 500m ahead")
da: oh. why'd anyone want to own a rock farm? how boring must that be
day 6
dad [in a very cheerful voice]: did you girls sleep well last night? i think i had a bad dream. or maybe it was real. there was this figure standing over my bed saying someone was dead. i didn't hear who it was, but he did say the name.
[awkward silence]
da (or maybe lynne): oh. um. eew?
we're back a day early !! we were meant to stay in geraldton for one night before heading to cervantes and then perth. but dad felt he could last the extra 200km or so, so we skipped geraldton and went straight to cervantes and now we're home on saturday.
once i resize pictures and everything i will share !! goodbye for now my pretties
